For the ninety-eighth day, we celebrated the handover of the Guinness World Record for The Longest Drive in an EV Car in one country (Non-Solar) with Infineon and Volkswagen of America in Washington, DC. Guinness World Records sent the adjuster, Brittany, from New York, especially to us in order to make the official handover of the certification. It is a great honor for us to be able to have this certification in our hands. The day began with a great event with Infineon. We arrived in the ID. 4 and entered the event with many members of Congress, the German Embassy, many other executives and VIP’s that were invited to share this incredible moment with us. After a short introduction by CEO of Infineon, Reinhard Ploss, Brittany came forward and announced that we had then doubled the old record for The Longest Drive in an EV Car in one country (Non-Solar). She then handed over the certification over to Rainer and Derek. We made some pictures around the car with the certification and Brittany, the adjustor. This marks the fourth Guinness World Record for Rainer Zietlow since 2005 and is a proud moment to receive this one since after 2013 when he received the last one. Afterwards, we went to Electrify America and met with Jovanni and the team. We appreciate their support of the tour and it was great to stop at Electrify America stations all the way through. From there, we went to Volkswagen of America and we had a small party with them. Due to COVID there were fewer people working in the offices. We celebrated the handover with Hein Schafer, Senior vice president of product marketing and strategy with a photo for the press release. Thank you to Dr. Jens Effenberger from Volkswagen Credit, which also sponsors our project. Dustin Krause, Head of Electromobility Volkswagen of America, also welcomed us at the car. We thank our communication team, Mark and Jerohn, we appreciate the support. With this visit to Volkswagen of America in Herndon, VA the journey has come full circle as we first began there on the thirteenth of July, 2021. With the completion of this project we would like to thank all of our sponsors: Volkswagen, Volkswagen Credit, Electrify America, Hankook, Infineon, Harting, Verizon, Textar, T-Mobile, Schnellecke Logistics, SOS Children’s Village, Kuehne-Nagel. The project of The VW ID. 4 USA Tour has officially finished and we are thankful for everyone who has followed us and the readers who kept up with us as we toured throughout the 48 states. Rainer and Derek enjoyed our time and are proud of what we were able to accomplish.
